(Mr. Plumber Video Series) This is Allie, the apprentice, with Mr. Plumber Plumbing Company. One of the biggest problems that you can have in plumbing is a slab or foundation leak. I’m going to explain to you what a slab leak is, what are some indications you may have one, and what to do if you suspect you may have one.
This is an example of what it looks like under your house. Now imagine that there is concrete, and dirt, and mud filling in this area right here. Now what happens when you have a slab or foundation leak is that there is a pipe break, or sever, or issue in the slab itself or under it. So as plumbers, we either have to go into the slab and fix the problem, or go under it and reroute it.
Here are some indications that you may have a problem with your slab or foundation. Cracks in your walls, floor or door frames. If you have wet carpet, it can cause mold and mildew, and may be an indication that there is a problem underneath your slab. Changes in your water bill are also a peak indicator that you may have a problem.
If you suspect you may have a slab or foundation leak, contact a professional. This plumbing problem can range anywhere from $800 to $20,000 to fix. This is not a task you want to try and do yourself. Mr. Plumber has been handling slab and foundation leaks for over 30 years, and we are more than happy to help. Give us a call at 210-492-2000.
