Having a clogged toilet or sewer line can really make you realize how often you take a perfectly working toilet for granted. Here are four common toilet issues you may come across in your day-to-day life.
A Clogged Toilet
The most common of the issues you will ever come across is the classic clogged toilet. Your toilet will clog when something is flushed down the toilet that isn’t supposed to be, such as a toy or food. A plunger should be able to take care of the clog. However, if this does not help you to be able to flush the toilet, you will need to contact a professional.
Toilet Not Flushing Due to Insufficient Water Level
If you’re finding that your toilet won’t flush but you know it isn’t clogged, the water tank may not be filled up enough. Toilets flush by the water in the tank rushing down and filling the bowl, so an insufficient water level will keep your toilet from fully flushing. Be sure that the water level in your tank matches up with the line that is built into the tank.
Your Water Tank is Leaking
You have a leaky water tank if you notice that there is subtle water flowing sound when you’re not using your toilet. This is a waste of water and a sign you need to replace the flapper that keeps excess water from getting into the tank when you’re not flushing.
Your Toilet Isn’t Clogged, But It’s Overflowing
If you’re flushing your toilet and your bowl won’t stop filling up with water (even though you know it isn’t clogged!), then your “stop” ball inside of your tank may be faulty. This ball is designed to tell your tank when to stop filling your bowl with water. If it’s not working the way it’s supposed to, your toilet will keep filling up with water.
